The bank acquired Coastal Virginia Bank in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on August 10, 1992, and expanded further with the acquisition of New Atlantic Bank, National Association in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 12, 1993. In the subsequent years, it moved its main office multiple times, with a notable relocation to 999 Waterside Drive in Norfolk, Virginia, on November 1, 2005. Xenith Bank continued to grow through acquisitions, including Gateway Bank & Trust Company in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on May 9, 2009, and Shore Bank in Onley, Virginia, on October 10, 2015. On July 30, 2016, Xenith Bank was acquired by Union Bank & Trust and subsequently changed its name to Xenith Bank on the same day.
