Winthrop State Bank was established on October 10, 1903, in Winthrop, Minnesota. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes in location, including a move to Main Street in Winthrop in April 1990 and a subsequent relocation to 102 East 2nd Street in March 2006. In January 2016, Winthrop State Bank merged with and became part of Perennial Bank, based in Darwin, Minnesota. The merger marked the end of Winthrop State Bank's independent operation after more than a century of service in the community.
