History Of Williamstown Bank
Williamstown Bank, Inc. is a state-chartered financial institution located in Williamstown, Kentucky. It was originally established as The Farmers & Mechanics National Bank of Williamstown on January 1, 1919, and initially operated without Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance. The institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System and attained FDIC insurance on September 15, 1934, at which point it changed its classification to a national bank. The bank underwent multiple name changes, becoming The Williamstown National Bank in 1964. In a significant reorganization, the institution transitioned from a national bank to a state-chartered bank on June 1, 2007, withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System and subsequently ceasing membership. On October 3, 2007, it adopted its current name, Williamstown Bank, Inc., reflecting its state-chartered status.
