Western National Bank is a financial institution that was established on April 7, 1917, originally named The First National Bank of Summerfield. The bank's headquarters were initially located on Main Street in Summerfield, Kansas. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes, including a relocation of its main office to 401 Main Street in Summerfield in May 2008. In November 2009, the institution changed its name to Western National Bank. The bank continued to evolve by moving its main office again in January 2014 to 523 Thayer Avenue in Chester, Nebraska, after acquiring the State Bank of Chester. Subsequent acquisitions included Byron State Bank in Byron, Nebraska, in July 2017, and Mainstreet Bank in Cook, Nebraska, in July 2021.
