History Of Western Bank
Western Bank, originally established as the First State Bank of Wolf Point in 1913, experienced several name changes and regulatory transition throughout its history. On July 12, 1963, the institution became a National Bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System, transitioning its chartering and regulatory oversight to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The bank later relocated its main office to Main Street in Wolf Point, Montana, in February 1990. On September 12, 1994, it adopted the name Western Bank of Wolf Point, and subsequently changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. The bank's main office was moved again to 111 3rd Avenue South in Wolf Point on March 31, 2006. Eventually, on January 1, 2020, Western Bank merged with and became part of Opportunity Bank of Montana, located in Helena, Montana.
