Western Bank is a financial institution based in Artesia, New Mexico. It was originally established on August 2, 1948, under the name Peoples State Bank. Over the years, the bank underwent several significant changes: on July 12, 1966, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System and changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), also transitioning to a state-chartered bank. The institution further evolved by changing its name to Peoples State Bank on October 4, 1973, and acquiring full trust powers the same day. On February 21, 1980, it adopted the name Western Bank. Most recently, on January 15, 2001, the bank relocated its main office to 320 West Texas Avenue in Artesia, New Mexico.
