History Of West Liberty State Bank
West Liberty State Bank was established on May 31, 1934. Initially, it operated as a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System on March 2, 1953. Over the years, the institution underwent several regulatory changes; it transitioned to a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve System on January 31, 1975, at which point it also changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On December 1, 1980, the main office of West Liberty State Bank was relocated to 101 East Fourth Street in West Liberty, Iowa. Ultimately, on June 30, 2015, West Liberty State Bank merged and became part of South Ottumwa Savings Bank located in Ottumwa, Iowa.
