The institution underwent a significant change on July 10, 1972, when it relocated its main office to 1601 22nd Street in West Des Moines and adopted the name West Des Moines State Bank. Over the years, it expanded through acquisitions, including Statesman Federal Savings Bank in Des Moines on March 1, 1991, and United Federal Savings Association of Iowa, also in Des Moines, in a government-assisted merger on June 24, 1994. On July 19, 2003, West Bank acquired Hawkeye State Bank in Iowa City, Iowa. The institution changed its name to West Bank on November 19, 2003.
