Wells Fargo Bank South Central, National Association, has its origins in the establishment of First Northwestern National Bank of Faribault on June 18, 1894. The institution underwent several name changes, becoming Norwest Bank Faribault, National Association in 1983 and subsequently changing its name to Norwest Bank Minnesota South, National Association in December 1988 after acquiring Norwest Bank Owatonna and Norwest Bank Northfield. The main office was relocated multiple times, with significant moves to 25 Northwest Fourth Street in Faribault, Minnesota, in December 1988, and later to 301 W Northern Lights Boulevard in Anchorage, Alaska, on April 15, 2008. On the same date, the institution adopted the name Wells Fargo Bank South Central. After operating under this name for a year, the main office was moved again to 2005 Taylor Street, Houston, Texas, on October 31, 2009. The institution was acquired by Wells Fargo & Company on November 1, 2009, thereby continuing its operations under the Wells Fargo brand within the Texas market.
