Wawel Bank

Wawel Bank was established on February 24, 1920, under the name Wawel Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name and organizational changes. In 1988, it was renamed Wawel Savings Bank, S.L.A., and later, on November 25, 2003, it transitioned to a mutual savings bank and revised its classification to a federal savings bank. The same day, it adopted the name Wawel Savings Bank. In March 2004, Wawel began operating as a stock savings bank. The bank's main office was relocated multiple times, with significant moves occurring in 1995 to Main & Wallington Avenues in Wallington, New Jersey, and again in December 2013 to 935 River Drive in Garfield, New Jersey. On July 21, 2011, Wawel Bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and officially adopted the name Wawel Bank on May 23, 2011. Ultimately, on March 26, 2018, Wawel Bank merged with Spencer Savings Bank, located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
