Wake Forest Federal Savings and Loan Association, established on January 1, 1922, originally served the community as a federal savings and loan institution. Throughout its history, the institution underwent several changes, including a transformation to a Stock Savings and Loan on March 31, 1988. On May 31, 1989, the main office relocated to 302 South Brooks Street in Wake Forest, North Carolina. In a regulatory shift, Wake Forest Federal changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. Eventually, on January 2, 2024, Wake Forest Federal Savings and Loan merged with Piedmont Federal Savings Bank, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, marking the end of its independent operations.
