Wabash Savings Bank was established in 1890 as the Wabash Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a name change to Wabash Savings Bank on June 30, 1988. In 1992, the organization changed its type to a Mutual Savings Bank and subsequently moved its main office to 400 Chestnut Street in Mount Carmel, Illinois, on November 2, 1992. The bank relocated its main office again to the same address on August 29, 2021. On May 12, 2023, Wabash Savings Bank merged with The First National Bank of Allendale, located in Allendale, Illinois, thereby ceasing to operate as an independent entity.
