History Of Virginia Community Bank

Virginia Community Bank was established on September 10, 1976, originally under the name The Bank of Louisa. The institution underwent a name change to The Bank of Louisa on June 20, 1978, and later became a member of the Federal Reserve System on February 11, 1982. On January 1, 1985, the bank adopted its current name, Virginia Community Bank. Over the years, Virginia Community Bank experienced several regulatory changes, including an adjustment to its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on January 5, 2016, when it also withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System and changed its classification to a state-chartered bank. The main office moved to 408 East Main Street in Louisa, Virginia, first on January 1, 2004, and again on April 12, 2011, to the same location. Virginia Community Bank eventually merged with Blue Ridge Bank, National Association, on December 15, 2019, becoming part of that institution based in Martinsville, Virginia.
