History Of United Valley Bank
United Valley Bank is a financial institution that was established on August 25, 1905, originally under the name Merchants & Farmers Bank of Cavalier. The bank underwent several name changes, including First Merchants and Farmers Bank of Cavalier in 1958, First State Bank of Cavalier in 1974, and First Bank Cavalier, National Association in 1985. In 1987, it switched its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and withdrew from the Federal Reserve System. The institution adopted its current name, United Valley Bank, on September 24, 1998. Over the years, the bank has expanded its operations through various acquisitions, including the purchase of United Valley Bank in Argyle, Minnesota, on July 28, 2006; Marshall Bank, National Association in Hallock, Minnesota, on January 29, 2010; First National Bank Mahnomen Twin Valley in Mahnomen, Minnesota, on October 15, 2018; and Northern Sky Bank in Crookston, Minnesota, on March 20, 2021.
