History Of United Community Bank
United Community Bank is a financial institution that was established on July 12, 1965, originally named Chatham Community Bank. The bank underwent a name change to Chatham Community Bank on December 13, 1975. Over the years, the bank expanded its operations and growth primarily through a series of acquisitions. In 1989, it acquired United Community Bank in Pawnee, Illinois, and subsequently adopted the name United Community Bank on November 21, 1988. The bank continued to grow, acquiring several other institutions including United Community Bank branches in Gillespie, Greenfield, and Bunker Hill, all in Illinois, on April 11, 1994. Further acquisitions included State Bank of Auburn in 2005, Marine Bank and Trust and Brown County State Bank in November 2016, and Illini Bank and Farmers State Bank of Camp Point on June 23, 2017. Most recently, United Community Bank acquired Liberty Bank in Alton, Illinois, on March 10, 2018. The main office of the bank was relocated to 301 North Main Street in Chatham, Illinois, on February 3, 1992.
