History Of United Bank
United Bank was established in 1858 under the name The Savings Bank of Rockville. Over the years, the institution underwent several name and organizational changes. In 1970, it was renamed The Savings Bank of Rockville. By 1988, it had limited its trust powers and changed its organization type to a stock savings bank in 1997. The institution rebranded as Rockville Bank in December 2000 and subsequently moved its main office to 25 Park Street, Vernon Rockville, Connecticut. In May 2014, Rockville Bank was acquired and became United Bank. The main office was relocated to 151 Asylum Street, Hartford, Connecticut, in April 2018. Following this, United Bank merged with People's United Bank in November 2019 and ultimately, on April 2, 2022, it merged again to become part of Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company, based in Buffalo, New York.
