On January 17, 1978, the institution changed its name to Stutsman County State Bank and concurrently withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. In 1996, Unison Bank expanded its operations by acquiring the Farmers State Bank of Ypsilanti in Ypsilanti, North Dakota.
