Union Bank and Trust Company, originally established as Union Bank on February 28, 1917, has undergone significant growth and transformation throughout its history. On December 30, 1960, the institution changed its name to Union Bank and Trust Company. In the mid-1980s, the bank expanded its operations through several acquisitions, beginning with the purchase of the Bank of Taylor in Taylor, Nebraska, on May 31, 1985. This was followed by the acquisition of Farmers State Bank in Rising City, Nebraska, on August 2, 1985. The bank continued its growth strategy by acquiring Security State Bank in Oxford, Nebraska, on October 1, 1987. These acquisitions contributed to the bank's development and presence in the region over the subsequent decades.
