Branch Reviews & Complaints
Interesting bank, saved from itself by some very adroit people -- esp. the case at the Scotia branch where I do business. Trustco problems are institutional, arguably an artifact of rural location and S&L mentality. E.g., I went to buy a rug, wanted to use my Trustco debit card; the payment was refused because Trustco (ostensibly for security reasons...) doesn't allow more the $2,500 charges. Or, I get notices that I have not yet used my billpay access. Stupid, picayune stuff. BUT: The staff at the Scotia branch (and in the lending office down the pike a bit, where I did a mortgage) are really very good. They patiently explain these strange banking behaviors, not least among their virtues. They are a cheery lot (the Scotia branch is small, even cozy) and it is a joy to visit the bank. I have dealt with lots of banks over the years, on three continents; many are as irksome as Trustco -- BUT: only two others have been as comfortable to deal with. So, special cheers to Trustco's Scotia branch staff.
