History Of TransPecos Banks
TransPecos Banks, originally established as The Security State Bank of Pecos, Texas on March 1, 1924, has undergone several name changes and regulatory shifts throughout its history. In 1943, the institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System and was designated as a state-chartered bank. Subsequent to this, it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. Over the decades, the bank continued to evolve, acquiring the Bank of Sierra Blanca in Sierra Blanca, Texas on January 18, 2002, as part of a government-assisted merger. The institution rebranded as TransPecos Banks on January 19, 2005, and later changed its name to Transpecos Banks, Ssb on July 1, 2016, while also transitioning to a stock savings bank organization type. As of December 16, 2019, the main office was relocated to 217 West Third Street in Pecos, Texas, following a previous move to 212 West 2nd Street on June 27, 2019. Notably, on October 30, 2021, TransPecos Banks withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and its bank class to an FDIC supervised state savings bank.
