History Of Tightwad Bank
Tightwad Bank was established in 1900 under the original name Reading State Bank. The institution underwent several developments throughout its history, including a relocation of its main office to Main Street in Reading, Kansas, on September 30, 1989. On March 27, 2008, it changed its name to Tightwad Bank and also acquired Farmers and Merchants Bank of Hale, located in Hale, Missouri. Subsequently, the bank's main office was moved again to 402 First Street in Reading, Kansas, on February 19, 2009, and later to 131 West Market Street in Osage City, Kansas, on June 14, 2011. Tightwad Bank voluntarily closed and liquidated its assets on June 30, 2015.
