History Of The Patapsco Bank

The Patapsco Bank was established on January 1, 1910, originally as the Patapsco Federal Savings and Loan Association. Over its history, the institution underwent several significant changes, including a transition in organizational structure and name. On April 1, 1996, it changed its name to The Patapsco Bank and moved its main office to 1301 Merritt Boulevard in Baltimore, Maryland. Shortly thereafter, it adjusted its regulatory and organizational status, becoming a commercial bank and joining the Federal Reserve System. The Patapsco Bank expanded through acquisitions, including Parkville Federal Savings Bank on April 1, 2004, and Northfield Federal Savings on November 13, 2000. In 2015, it merged with Howard Bank, based in Ellicott City, Maryland, and adopted the Howard Bank name on April 6, 2018. The Patapsco Bank's final merger occurred on February 5, 2022, when it became part of the First National Bank of Pennsylvania, headquartered in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
