The Palmetto Bank was established on August 17, 1906, originally operating under its founding name. Over the years, the institution grew and underwent several changes, including the acquisition of the Bank of Hodges in Hodges, South Carolina, on July 5, 1988. On March 31, 2006, the bank officially changed its name to The Palmetto Bank. In a strategic move to enhance its operations, the bank relocated its main office to 306 East North Street in Greenville, South Carolina, on March 1, 2011. Ultimately, The Palmetto Bank merged with United Community Bank on September 1, 2015, becoming part of United Community Bank based in Blairsville, Georgia.
