The National Bank and Trust Company

The National Bank and Trust Company has its origins dating back to May 10, 1872, when it was established as The Clinton County National Bank and Trust Company of Wilmington, Ohio. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes, most notably adopting the name The National Bank and Trust Company in December 1981. The bank expanded through various acquisitions, including The Brown County National Bank of Mount Orab in January 1982, and The People's National Bank of Georgetown later that same year. In subsequent decades, the bank acquired multiple institutions, such as Kentucky National Bank of Ohio in 1992 and American National Bank in 2010. In December 2015, it merged with Peoples Bank, National Association, based in Marietta, Ohio, and subsequently changed its name to The Peoples Banking and Trust Company. Finally, on February 1, 2016, the institution rebranded as Peoples Bank.
