The Juniata Valley Bank is a financial institution established in 1867 under the name The Juniata Valley National Bank of Mifflintown. In 1978, the bank underwent significant changes, including a name change to The Juniata Valley Bank, a transition to being a state-chartered bank, and withdrawal from the Federal Reserve System, which involved switching its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Over the years, the bank has expanded through acquisitions, including the purchase of Lewistown Trust Company in July 1998, The First National Bank of Port Allegany in December 2015, and Liverpool Community Bank in April 2018.
