The Freeport State Bank was established in 1902, originally serving the community under its founding name. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes in its operational headquarters, including a move to 800 West 14th Street in Harper, Kansas, on September 5, 1989. This was followed by another relocation to 807 West 14th Street in Harper on June 1, 1996. After more than a century in operation, The Freeport State Bank merged with the Bank of Commerce and Trust Company on June 30, 2018, effectively ceasing to operate as an independent institution and becoming part of a larger banking entity based in Wellington, Kansas.
