The First Security Bank, originally established as The Farmers State Bank on April 3, 1897, began its operations in Overbrook, Kansas. On April 22, 1904, the institution changed its name to The First National Bank of Overbrook, transitioning to a national charter and becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System, with its primary regulatory agency being The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. On October 2, 1978, the bank adopted its current name, The First Security Bank, and also transitioned from being a national bank to a state-chartered bank, withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System and changing its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
