The Farmers State Bank, established on January 1, 1919, originally operated under the name The Farmers State Bank, of New Madison, Ohio. Over the decades, the institution underwent several name changes and structural modifications. On June 13, 1969, it adopted the name The Farmers State Bank, of New Madison, Ohio, and relocated its main office to 101 South Main Street, New Madison, Ohio, 45346. Subsequently, on May 25, 1971, the bank changed its name again to The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company. The trust powers of the institution were removed on June 30, 1997. Finally, on April 27, 1998, it became known simply as The Farmers State Bank.
