The Farmers State Bank was established on June 28, 1905. Originally based in Brookston, Indiana, the institution played a role in supporting local agricultural communities through various banking services. On March 21, 1990, the main office of The Farmers State Bank was relocated to 309 South Prairie in Brookston, Indiana. On July 14, 2017, The Farmers State Bank merged with The Fountain Trust Company, also based in Covington, Indiana, and subsequently adopted the name Fountain Trust Merger Bank. This merger marked the end of The Farmers State Bank as an independent entity while continuing its legacy under a new name within a larger banking corporation.
