The Farmers Bank of Osborne was established on April 1, 1901, initially operating under the name The Farmers National Bank of Osborne. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes in structure and regulatory oversight. On January 23, 1989, it expanded by acquiring The Farmers National Bank of Gaylord, located in Gaylord, Kansas. Significant restructuring occurred on April 1, 2009, when the institution changed its name to The Farmers Bank of Osborne, transitioned to a state-chartered bank, and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation becoming its primary federal regulatory agency. On January 10, 2014, the bank moved its main office to 102 West Main Street in Osborne, Kansas. Ultimately, on February 14, 2020, The Farmers Bank of Osborne merged with The Peoples Bank based in Pratt, Kansas, marking the end of its independent operations.
