History Of The Columbia Bank
The Columbia Bank was established on May 12, 1988, in Maryland, initially operating under its original name. Over the years, the bank expanded its footprint through a series of acquisitions, including Fairview Federal Savings and Loan Association in Ellicott City, Maryland, in 1992, and the Suburban Bank of Maryland in Greenbelt, Maryland, in 2000. The bank continued to grow by acquiring The Peoples Bank of Elkton in Elkton, Maryland, and Hagerstown Trust Company in Hagerstown, Maryland, in August and September of 2009, respectively. The Columbia Bank underwent several relocations, with its main office moving to various addresses in Columbia, Maryland, including a move to 7185 Columbia Gateway Drive on June 18, 2018. Ultimately, on September 14, 2019, The Columbia Bank merged with Fulton Bank, National Association, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, becoming part of a larger banking institution.
