The Citizens Exchange Bank was established on July 15, 1893, originally named The Citizens State Bank of Fairmount, Indiana. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a name change to The Citizens Exchange Bank on January 22, 1988. On April 1, 2016, The Citizens Exchange Bank merged with and became part of First Farmers Bank and Trust Company, located in Converse, Indiana. Subsequently, on March 1, 2020, the institution officially changed its name to First Farmers Bank & Trust Co.
