The Citizens Bank was established on November 5, 1941, under the original name of The Citizens Bank. Later, on October 5, 2005, The Citizens Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Adel Banking Company in Adel, Georgia. However, the bank faced challenges over the years and ultimately closed voluntarily and liquidated its assets on April 1, 2020.
