The Bank of Carbondale was established on April 4, 1919, originally serving the community of Carbondale, Illinois. Over the years, the bank underwent several relocations, including a move to 101 North Washington Street on December 28, 1970, and later to 216 East Main Street on June 30, 1981, which became its main office. After more than a century of providing banking services, The Bank of Carbondale merged with First Southern Bank based in Marion, Illinois, on July 1, 2022, becoming part of a larger financial institution.
