Originally named The Bank of Advance, it has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On December 18, 1972, the main office relocated to the intersection of Ash and Gabriel Streets in Advance. The bank then moved its main office again on February 1, 1999, to 105 East Gabriel Street in Advance. In the early 2000s, The Bank of Advance expanded its operations by acquiring Bowen State Bank in Bowen, Illinois, and The First National Bank of Lerna in Lerna, Illinois, on January 1, 2005.
