History Of The Bank and Trust
The Bank and Trust, based in Del Rio, Texas, was established in 1910 under the original name Del Rio Bank & Trust Company. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including its regulatory affiliations and organizational structure. In 1956, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System and reclassified itself as a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve, while also changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In 1998, the bank changed its name to The Bank and Trust, S.s.b., altered its organization type to a stock savings bank, and status to FDIC supervised state savings bank. The bank further expanded by acquiring The First State Bank in Brackettville in January 1998 and The Bank and Trust, S.s.b. in Sonora in January 1999. Another significant change occurred in 2014 when the bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System again and changed its primary federal regulatory agency back to the Federal Reserve. On March 31, 2006, the institution officially adopted the name The Bank and Trust. Most recently, on January 13, 2023, the main office moved to 1200 Veterans Boulevard, Del Rio, Texas 78840.
