Texas First State Bank was established on January 1, 1906, under the name First State Bank of Riesel. The bank underwent several name changes and relocations throughout its history. On November 16, 1935, it was renamed First State Bank. The institution became Texas First Bank on December 17, 1997, and subsequently changed its name to Texas First State Bank on December 21, 1999. The bank's main office was moved to Highway 6 South in Riesel, Texas, on August 9, 1982, and further relocated to 400 South Memorial Street in Riesel on March 31, 2006. On January 1, 2020, Texas First State Bank merged and became part of BancorpSouth Bank, which is headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi. The institution later changed its name to Cadence Bank on October 29, 2021.
