History Of Territorial Savings Bank

Territorial Savings Bank, established originally under different names, underwent significant transformations throughout its history, particularly in the early 2000s. On September 18, 2002, the institution changed its name to Territorial Savings Bank and adjusted its organizational type to a stock savings bank and its classification to a federal savings bank, with the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) as its chartering agency. The bank relocated its main office to 1000 Bishop Street in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 30, 1996; prior to that, it had been located at 925 Bethel Street since March 1, 1991. Over the years, the bank shifted its regulatory oversight multiple times, with key changes occurring on June 25, 2014, when it became supervised by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and established as an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank. Subsequently, on July 10, 2014, Territorial Savings Bank transitioned to a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System, marking a significant milestone in its regulatory evolution.
