History Of Synovus Bank

Synovus Bank, originally established as the Columbus Bank and Trust Company in 1888, has a long history of growth and transformation in the banking industry. The institution underwent significant changes in 1970 when it withdrew from the Federal Reserve System and subsequently expanded its trust powers to full status. Throughout the years, Synovus Bank pursued a strategy of acquisitions to enhance its reach and services. In 2010, the bank changed its name to Synovus Bank and made several significant acquisitions, including Trust One Bank in Memphis, Tennessee, and The National Bank of South Carolina in Sumter, South Carolina, among others. This trend continued with notable acquisitions such as Sunrise Bank in Valdosta, Georgia, in 2013, and Florida Community Bank, National Association, in Weston, Florida, in 2019. Notably, in November 2016, Synovus adjusted its regulatory status by becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System and changing its bank class to a State Chartered Bank. The bank has continuously expanded its operations through strategic mergers and acquisitions, significantly increasing its footprint in the southeastern United States.

I said thank you and was given a busin... Read more
