Branch Reviews & Complaints
Terrible experience. I brought my disabled uncle into this bank to get help after my grandmother, his mother, passed away. We presented the death certificate, as I needed to obtain some information from the bank to send to my mom, who is the executor and handling the finances for the attorney. My mom lives 10 hours away, and I wanted to do this favor for her since we are all going through a lot right now. The bank's initial response was "We can't talk to you, only to him since he is the beneficiary." They refused to answer any of my questions, which was problematic since he has difficulty communicating due to his disability. I ended up texting the questions to him that I needed for my mom, because they wouldn't speak to me directly. They took the death certificate and informed us it would take about 2 hours to process before they could respond to my uncle's inquiries.
We decided to visit another bank, which was more accommodating, answered my questions, closed the account, issued a check to my uncle, and remained incredibly nice and friendly throughout the process. When we returned to the first bank to check on their progress, they were still processing. Although we were initially quoted 2 hours, we waited in the lobby. After approximately 2.5 hours, the manager approached us and stated it could take up to 7 business days. This information was not provided upfront. As a busy medical student who drove from over 2 hours away to assist my disabled uncle, I would have made different plans had I known the actual timeframe. Needing to return home to study, I left. Later, Sunflower Bank called my uncle to inform him the check was ready. Yet when he went to collect it, they still refused to answer his questions. On a previous visit, we were told a death certificate was needed, which my mom had already emailed, but the bank refused to communicate with her on the phone or provide any information.
In summary, the staff here seem incompetent and uninformed about their own policies and timeframes. They also refuse to communicate with the family members of disabled clients. I would give this bank 0 stars if I could.
