Sunflower Bank, National Association, is a financial institution with a history dating back to its establishment on May 24, 1892, as The Farmers National Bank of Salina in Salina, Kansas. The bank underwent several name changes, becoming The First National Bank and Trust Company of Salina in 1963 and later changing its name to First National Bank and Trust in 1989. In 1992, the institution adopted the name Sunflower Bank, National Association and began an aggressive expansion strategy through acquisitions. Significant milestones include the acquisition of The Thomas County National Bank of Colby and The First State Bank & Trust Company in April 1992. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Sunflower Bank continued to grow by acquiring various banks across multiple states, including the Bank of Leeton in January 2010 and First National Bank - Colorado in April 2005. Terrible experience. I brought my disabled uncle into this bank to get help after my grandmother, his mother, passed away. We presented the death certificate, as I needed to obtain some information from the bank to send to my mom, who is the executor and handling the finances for the attorney. I am in the midst of looking for another Bank. Sunflower Bank in Junction City, Ks will not cover simple bills, even once they are already approved with confirmation. I recently paid an electric bill my bank statement said paid, just for Evergy to say it wasn't covered a week later.
