HISTORY OF SUNDOWN STATE BANK
Sundown State Bank was established on May 21, 1963, originally named The First National Bank of Sundown. On January 3, 1972, the bank underwent significant changes, including a name change to Sundown State Bank, a shift in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and a transition of its chartering agency to state oversight. On the same date, the institution withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The bank's main office was relocated to Fifth and Slaughter Streets in Sundown, Texas, also on January 3, 1972. Subsequently, on March 31, 2006, the main office was moved again to 501 South Slaughter Avenue in Sundown, Texas, where it currently operates.
