History Of Sumner National Bank
Sumner National Bank was established on January 1, 1902, under the original name Sumner State Bank. Over the years, the institution underwent significant changes, notably on July 30, 1938, when it changed its name to Sumner National Bank of Stockland and transitioned to a national bank, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System. The bank also shifted its federal regulatory oversight to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on the same date. Later that year, on August 1, 1938, the main office moved to 198 South Fourth Street in Sheldon, Illinois, and the bank was renamed Sumner National Bank of Sheldon. After serving the community for many decades, Sumner National Bank merged with Iroquois Farmers State Bank on October 1, 2016, and ceased operations as a separate entity.
