HISTORY OF STERLING FEDERAL BANK
Sterling Federal Bank, originally established as Sterling Federal Savings and Loan Association in 1885, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. The bank changed its institution name to Sterling Federal Bank, F.S.B. on May 8, 1990. In June 1992, the bank's main office relocated to 110 East 4th Street in Sterling, Illinois. In 2001, the bank once again changed its name to Sterling Federal Bank, F.S.B. and acquired Marquette Bank Clinton in Clinton, Iowa on February 16 of that year. Later, on November 30, 2007, Sterling Federal Bank acquired Mt. Morris Savings and Loan Association based in Mount Morris, Illinois. The bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. Most recently, on June 20, 2014, Sterling Federal Bank transitioned its organization type to a mutual savings bank.
