History Of State Bank & Trust Company

State Bank & Trust Company was established on November 1, 1898, in Mississippi under the original name of The Valley Bank. Over its history, the institution underwent several significant changes, including multiple name changes and acquisitions. In 1979, it changed its trust powers to full, signifying a broader range of financial services. The bank's main office was relocated several times, including moves in 1986 to N. The organization expanded through acquisitions, including the acquisitions of Bank of Webb in 1995, Mississippi Southern Bank in 2002, First Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2005, Consumer National Bank in Jackson, Mississippi in 2006, and The American Bank in Geneva, Alabama in 2007. In July 2000, it adopted the name State Bank & Trust Company after acquiring another bank in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
