State Bank was established on May 1, 1944, originally under the name Everly State Bank. The institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System on December 22, 1983. On February 1, 1984, it changed its name to State Bank and also acquired Peterson State Bank located in Peterson, Iowa. On the same date, the main office was relocated to 301 Main Street in Everly, Iowa. Later, on August 18, 1997, the main office was moved again to 728 Grand Avenue in Spencer, Iowa, where it currently operates.
