The State Bank of Alcester was established on December 20, 1890, in Alcester, South Dakota, originally operating under its founding name. Over the years, the bank experienced several changes in its main office locations; on September 30, 1989, it moved to Main Street in Alcester and, later, on November 26, 2008, relocated to 190 Iowa Street in Alcester, South Dakota. Ultimately, on November 17, 2017, the State Bank of Alcester merged with Premier Bank, located in Rock Valley, Iowa, marking the end of its independent operations.
