State Bank Financial is a financial institution based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, originally established on July 26, 1858, under the name Bank of Sparta. The institution underwent several name changes, becoming First Bank of Sparta on January 26, 1968, and later changing its name to State Bank of La Crosse on February 2, 1998. On the same date, it also relocated its main office to 401 Main Street, La Crosse, Wisconsin, 54601. The bank transitioned to membership in the Federal Reserve System and changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve on April 30, 1999. On April 11, 2003, State Bank Financial acquired First National Bank in La Crescent, Minnesota. The bank officially adopted its current name, State Bank Financial, on August 1, 2006.
