Starion Bank is a financial institution that was established on January 1, 1993, originally operating under the name First Southwest Bank - Bismarck. In 1995, the bank underwent significant changes, acquiring multiple institutions including The First National Bank and Trust Company of Ellendale, The First National Bank of Oakes, and First Southwest Bank - Mandan, while also changing its name to First Southwest Bank. In 2000, the institution modified its trust powers to a limited status. On September 15, 2003, the institution rebranded itself as Starion Financial. Subsequent growth occurred through acquisitions, notably the purchase of Security State Bank in Dunseith, North Dakota, on October 7, 2011, and Wps Community Bank, Fsb in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 11, 2015. Finally, on September 28, 2016, the institution changed its name to Starion Bank.
