St. James Federal Savings and Loan Association was established on January 1, 1958. The institution operated primarily in St. James, Minnesota, and it officially moved its main office to 501 First Avenue South, St. James, Minnesota, on November 30, 1984. Over the years, the association underwent several organizational changes, including a shift in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. In a series of mergers, St. James Federal Savings and Loan Association became part of Wells Federal Bank in Wells, Minnesota, on July 17, 2015. Subsequently, it merged with Citizens Community Federal National Association in Altoona, Wisconsin, on August 19, 2017, marking the end of its independent operations.
